The Cycle by cody littlejohn

On August 24 Arian Beltre did one of the hardest things in baseball to do. He hit a cycle. Which is hitting a single, a double, a triple, and a home run in the same game. This would be his second cycle of his career, one in 2008. He is the seventh player for the Texas Rangers to hit a Cycle. Both of his Cycle was at the Ranger’s stadium and both for the Rangers. He started the game hitting a triple. Which is debatably, the hardest base hit you can get. Getting that out of the way made it easier to end the game with a single to complete the cycle.

Beltre had the fourth cycle this year. The rangers last cycle was in 2010. As difficult as hitting a cycle is. Beltre made it look like nothing. I play baseball and I have been trying to get a cycle for quit a while, but never have succeeded. It is such an accomplishment to get an cycle in your baseball career, defiantly in the major leagues.

Avengers By: Malik Miller

THE AVENGERS
The release of the “Avengers” was historic. The Avengers will definitely go down as one of the greatest hero movies of all time. Putting heroes such as the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and  Hawkeye certainly made this a “must-see” movie. The Avengers lived up to and passed its hype as the best heroic movie of the year. But, it wasn’t your normal typical hero story. Marvel through a twist into the story. Some of the “heroes” weren’t exactly what you would consider a hero.
With so many different egos, how can you possibly make a team like that work? WEll, they were like the Dream Team of superheroes.
You’ll be surprised how heroes will set their differences aside to save the universe. If you haven’t seen The Avengers yet the you need to by it on DVD. It releases on september 25 in stores. Rumors are that their will be a sequel to the movie, and I hope there will be! It will be just as, if not better, than this Avenger movie.

Today the Mighty Mustangs will face the Rough Rattlers. Madison Academy plays tanner Thursday, August 30,2012 at 7pm. The Mustangs with have their handfuls tonight, but I think they can pull it out. I am looking forward to Damien Pam having a good breakout game. The key players for Tanner are Jon Jon and there quarterback. They are very shifty and fast

I think that the Mighty Mustangs defense can contain the rough Rattlers offense. It will come down to the offense will they produce. Malik Miller, a freshman, is ready to show out and show why he is the best running back in Alabama. I also think there will be a lot of pressure on the mustangs quarterback Justin Wimberly will he produce. At the end of day, if the Mustang play Mustang football then they will come out with the win.

Crimson Tide! By: Jared Hill 9th

Alabama Crimson Tide, the defending champions, might win the National Championship again. Why? Alabama has had a long history of great football and has 14 National Championships awarded to them.  Alabama’s defense is considered the greatest of all time in college football. The question is how will the offense do? I believe this season may be another National Championship season because of the firepower the offense has. Most importantly, Saban is starting a streak for the Crimson Tide like Paul Bear Bryant years.

AJ McCarron, the starter quarterback for Alabama had a great season last year. He  has two more years to play and he’s constantly working hard to get better. It is important for the quarterback to be a strong symbol for the team and a good teammate. He showed both qualities last season. Alabama will roll the tide and there is no doubt about it.

Mexican Police Attackers by Wyatt Farrior

Last Friday, Mexican police attacked and injured two CIA officers. Sources say that it was a deliberate attack. They also said that those actions could mess up the U.S.-Mexico cooperation in their war against the drug cartel. The two officers were south of the capitol.
On their way to the Mexican Marine base, last Friday, working on a training mission. Federal police shot up the CIA van. The men traveling with the Marines were wounded and taken to the hospital. They were hurt, but fine. Their van tires and

"Trey's Cut" by Kyle Swearengen

Have you seen Trey’s haircut?  He got his head shaved.  His head is so plain now.  I got some opinions of his hair and here they are. Trey himself says, “I think it looks sexy and it feels great.”  Expert hair analyzer Joshua Langford states, “Its very... it caught me off guard.”  My opinion is probably the same as Joshua. It stunned me and just totally surprised me.

Trey openly explains why he got it and says, “It was a bet and I was blackmailed by someone.” Many are wondering who this mysterious someone is and how he blackmailed Trey. Mr. Owens said that “no further comments are needed.” Something might be deeper to this story than just his awful haircut.

Remember The Titans By: AJ Ikard

Remember The Titans
By: A.J. Ikard

Remember the Titans is about segregation. There is a white school that is now segregating with black people. Everybody is mad and frustrated about this happening. One day while the Titans were practicing, there was a riot and they ran to help out but they got into trouble for doing this. The black and white football team set out for a camp for football.

While they are there they have to learn about themselves and to get along. They don’t like each other while they are at the camp. The coach makes them learn some things about each other. Even though they were mean to each other at camp and did not know what to do about each other, they turned out to be the best football team and go on to win the Championship!

Where The Red Fern Grows By:Tiffany Von Tungeln

Where The Red Fern Grows is a great family tear jerker. Directed by Norman Tokar, and written by Wilson Rawls, this story will surely bring you to tears. It is about a young boy who wanted two coon hound dogs to hunt with, and he worked so hard to save up a lot of money. Before he knew it, he could afford two puppies, which he named them Dan and Anne. They were trained to hunt for raccoons with him in the forrest, and soon they were catching every coon in the forest. The boy and both dogs grew very close until there was a tragedy one night while they were out.
In my opinion this was a very good movie, but it could have been better. For its day and age, it was one of the saddest, and greatest movie of its time. I wish the quality would have been a little bit better. It would have enhanced the film and the way it affected you. For this reason, there was a remake in 2003. You should see it!

Harvard Scandal by Natalie Conrad

Harvard University is investigating whether about 125 undergraduates copied answers on a spring semester take-home final exam. This was just announced today. The cheating was discovered after teachers realized that too many of the exams had almost identical answers. The teacher made it perfectly clear that no collaboration whatsoever on this exam. Unfortunately, Harvard is going to be forced to take action on this scandal.
Those who were caught cheating on the exam will have to face the consequences. The consequences range from getting a warning to being forced to withdraw from Harvard for a year. Harvard is completely ashamed that something like this would happen at this great school. Everyone can’t believe this would happen with no record of possible cheating at this university before. It is completely unfortunate for Harvard University to adopt this kind of reputation.

"Fake Bigfoot Attacked" by Zachary Nobrega

In Montana there was a man named Randy Tenley. Randy was obsessed with bigfoot. So one day he decided to dress like bigfoot so someone would report it. Unfortunately his plan wasn’t thought through very well. When he was standing on the side of the road, a 15 and a 17 year old girls ran him over.

He ended up dying. His costume was a Ghillie suit. A Ghillie suit is something army snipers wear to keep them hidden in the forest or wherever they are. They are also said that it kind of looks like bigfoot. The police are also thinking that alcohol may have been involved.

Bill Cosby Dead by Jacob Williams

The unfortunate happened not to long ago. Bill Cosby was announced dead. It is now the trending topic on Twitter and has gained over 315,000 likes on Facebook. Gladly, this is all a lie. Bill Cosby is the most recent victim of a cruel joke. This all started on Facebook, with a group called “Bill Cosby Dead.” With over 315,000 members in the group, it would be hard to find the person who started all of this troubles.
Luckily, the admin of the page came clean and reporters named him as Jonathan Gorman. He stated the following quote, “My name is Jonathan Gorman and I am the page admin/creator.” Followed by, “I have come to the conclusion that I should tell you all the truth. Bill Cosby is not deceased. I have made around 315 THOUSAND people angry.” This was not the first time Bill Cosby was pronounced dead, in fact, this has happened about four times! Jonathan later apologized to Bill on Facebook and thanked him for making him laugh at Bill’s “stupidity for the past day and a half.”

The Origin of Lacrosse by Kyle Siersma

Sports Article

I did my review on the Origin of Lacrosse. Modern day lacrosse came from what the Native Americans used to settle inter tribal disputes. Lacrosse was also used between different tribes instead of having a war. During the game there could be as many as 100-1000 players on each side and the goals could measure from a few hundred yards apart to several miles. When lacrosse is played there can only be10 players on field for each team and the goals are about 80 yards from goal line to goal line.
The “medicine men” were usually the coaches, and the woman in the tribe were normally limited to serving drinks to the players. Most of the time lacrosse was played instead of war but it was also played for religious purposes because it was “for the pleasure of the Creator”. Pre-game rituals were very close to that for a war. Players decorated themselves with paint and charcoal, and would typically decorate their sticks to their liking.

"Air Guitar World Championship 2012" by Jonathan

Recently American Justin “Nordic Thunder” Howard convinced both the judges and the audience that he was the best and won the AGWC 2012. The finals were held in Oahu, Finland on Friday, August 24th. Second time was the charm for Nordic Thunder because in the 2011 championship he ended up getting 2nd place and 1st place went to Aline “The Devil’s Niece” Westphal. I personally think that Nordic Thunder did very well with his performance and deserved getting 1st.
Nordic Thunder played “Hit the Lights” by Metallica. I think the song was a very good choice because of the crazy guitar that would look awesome to mimic. Some people think that the talent air guitar is not an actual talent. But I highly disagree with these accusations. I think it takes some talent to make it look like you are actually playing the guitar, also entertaining the audience takes talent, too.

Review of "The Wall" by Parker Daniel

“The Wall” is a powerful album about the world and how it is deceiving and cruel.  It includes songs like “Another Brick in the Wall” Parts 1-3 and “Comfortably Numb.”  One song in The Wall, “The Trial,” is an imaginary trial that takes place with two sides debating whether to tear down the wall or not.  In the end, the wall is torn down and the song “Outside the Wall” plays peacefully, depicting a peaceful, and better world because of it.  All in all, this is a great album by Pink Floyd, and I would give it a Ten out of Ten because I love all of the songs in the album.

Snooki and Teen Mom by Jordan Marshall

So, we all knew that Snooki from Jersey Shore was pregnant. Everyone was completely in shock when they heard the news because no one thought that this would be happening so early in her relationship with Jionni. Well Snooki is no longer “pregers” (as she called it). She has had little baby Lorenzo Dominic and he is doing very well. He was born on Sunday in Livingston New Jersey.

Speaking of an unexpected pregnancy, if you haven't been keeping up Teen Mom, Amber has a new boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend Gary is not happy about it. Of course, we do not know the whole story but her new man seems like a nice guy who can’t get Gary’s approval. Gary wanted to throw a big birthday party for their daughter Leah and refused to allow Amber to attend. We will have to watch the next episode to see how everything plays out!

Facing the Giants By Preslee Lones

Grant Taylor: “I want God to bless this team so much people will talk about what He did. But it means we gotta give Him our best in every area. And if we win, we praise Him. And if we lose, we praise Him. Either way, we honor Him with our actions and our attitudes. So I'm askin' you... What are you living for? I resolve to give God everything I've got, then I'll leave the results up to Him. I want to know if you'll join me.”

Facing the Giants is about a football coach, Grant Taylor, who doesn’t have the best luck with winning games. He does not play for God, but he loves the Lord, and his team is too lazy to step up. But when it comes close to him losing his job, he sees something's got to change. Grant Taylor sees that he can’t do it without God. Once they turn over to God, things start happening for the the team on and off the field.
I would tell anyone to watch this movie! It is great for people who love sports, playing or just watching because we lose sight of what really matters sometimes. My whole family loved this movie! If you have doubts, this movie can help you move on from them. It is such an up lifting movie!

Matthew Huntley Hurricane Isaac

Isaac, a category 1 hurricane is going through Louisiana today.  Today also marks the 8th year anniversary of Katrina while Isaac is in Louisiana. It has 75 miles per hour sustained winds. It is about 45 miles away from New Orleans, Isaac is traveling at 7-8 miles per hour.  500,000 people have lost power from the storm, Isaac, in Louisiana.

The worst hit part from Isaac is Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The gulf side levee was leaked over by water. People who were ordered to leave earlier in the week had to go to high ground because the water that filled up the town. The town of Plaquemines is like a bowl so the water is in the town at about fourteen feet high. Isaac has also cost 150,000 people in Mississippi to lose power

"Tenth Avenue North- The Struggle" review by Caroline Dearman

Last week, on Tuesday, August 21st, the popular contemporary Christian band, Tenth Avenue North released their newest album, titled The Struggle. This album is their 3rd studio album followed by Over and Underneath (2008), and The Light Meets The Dark (2010). “The Struggle is a record about temptations and dealing with those temptations.” says Tenth Avenue’s lead singer, Mike Donehey.
The album was available for preorder through iTunes and Amazon. iTunes listeners have rated the album over 4.5 stars with only positive comments. I highly recommend this album because the lyrics are meaningful and the music is uplifting.

Origin of Volleyball By: Olivia Knott

If you think volleyball is weird today, you should see how people played when it was first created! If you have played volleyball before, you should know the basic rules. There are six people on each side of the court and you can only have three touches before you send the ball back to the other side. You play until the score is 25 and you serve every time you get a point. It sounds very simple, but it’s very hard to “bump, set, spike” every time the ball comes back over. In volleyball, you usually have three different kinds of players; back row, front row, and a setter. What you want to lean for in the game, is to get the pass up to the setter, who can set the hitters on front row, to hit it back to the other team.
Volleyball was established 1895 in the beginning of February. It wasn’t even called volleyball, it was called Mintonette. Mintonette was designed to be an indoor sport, yet less rough than basketball. The rules were a little it different than todays rules. There was still a net, but just a little bit different concept. It didn’t matter how many people were on the court, and you could “touch” it as many times as you needed before you sent it back over to the other team. You could also have a do-over on your serve if you missed it. There was also nine innings and each side had three serves per inning. These rules seem so different to people who play volleyball today, but I’m glad the rules are easier to understand.

Taylor Swift By: Josh Benner

The song Mean by Taylor Swift interests me for many reasons.  In the song, Swift talks about a person who has obviously abused her, both physically and verbally, for quite some time.  She sings about all the “swords and weapons” that have been used against her: the hateful words, the two-faced actions, the lies, and actions that have humiliated so deeply she finds it hard to “raise her head.”  As the song goes on, the artist seems to identify the power she has wrongly let this person have over her.  She seems to find hope in reminding herself that one day when she is “big enough” she will no longer be a victim.  She will grow up and the roles will reverse.  She will be free to live her dreams in the “big old city” while he will remain captive, a victim to his own anger.  The artist informs her abuser that in years to come he will find himself talking with the “same loud opinions…ranting about the same old bitter things,” but no one will listen, no one will be scared anymore because he will be seen for who he really is-an aging man who is a bully, who is powerless, and who is mean.

All students have been hurt by others in many ways by the time they are in high school.  Some have been hurt by words, others by actions, most by both.  Yet, we need to respond to those who hurt us in two ways-both of which are discussed in Swift’s song.  First, we must have pity on those who hurt others remembering that abusers hurt people because they have been hurt.  Secondly, we must never remain victims.   Through Christ we were made to be free, free to be all He created us to be.  As we grow older, hopefully we will live in this freedom more and forgive those who hurt us in the past.

The Lion King by: Melissa Milton

"The Lion King" is a movie about a young male prince lion (Simba) who gets falsely persecuted for killing his father. He never meant to, but it just came happened accidentally. His uncle, Scar, has harsh feelings towards his nephew Simba, who take Scar's place as being king of Pride Rock. Simba gets banished, Mufasa (Simba's father) is dead and Scar tell's Simba to run away and never come back. Simba ran away, Scar told the rest of the pride that they both had died. (Simba and Mufasa) After the death of the reigning king and the to-be king had gone- away Scar became king or pride rock. Simba met new friends (Timon and Pumba). Throughout his childhood Timon and Pumba took care of him. One afternoon Pumba almost got eaten by a lioness named Nalla who happened to be Simba's childhood bestfriend! The two lions spent the whole night together and they fell in love, but Nalla reminded Simba that he had to go back and take his ightful place as king. Simba was perfectly fine at where he was he had everything, but at Pride Rock things were very bad! The two fought about that, and Nalla left. Simba soon after met a baboon named Rafiki who was a friend of his father. Rafiki mde him think about his desicion to go back or not. Simba chose to an he went back to Pride Rock to take his rightful place as king.

This movie has always been one of my favorite movies! I have always loved how they set it up, how the characters acted, and I loved that they were animals in general! I used to have Simba and Scar action figures to play with. I always had Simba and Nalla stuffed animals! All in all I absolutely love "The Lion King." It is my m favorite movie. I also reccomend it to you

Social news by: Ethan Hunt

Here is your weekly social news. The latest and saddest story is that Snooki has had her child. And I don’t know if you have realized it but her pregnancy was the only time in her life that she has had two brain cells inside of her. The only reason that this happened was because she had a baby inside of her. Otherwise she would of had one brain cell all along.
On another note I also feel really bad for this poor baby having to live with a party mom. Because I am pretty sure that if she has a T.V show about how she goes out and parties then she probably wont stop any time soon. This means that the baby will probably be raised mostly by a nanny of some sorts. This baby will probably not be very healthy since snooki was almost always drinking or partying. Now usually I could care less about hollywood junk, but this was just too funny to pass up.

Brave by: Cassie Naff

Do you ever feel like your parents don't understand you? That's the way Merida feels in the movie "Brave". She is a princess in Scotland who loves to ride horses and shoot arrows with her bow. Her mother doesn't think this is proper behavior for a princess and decides it's time for her to get married. Of course Merida hates this idea. When the three guys chosen to be her husband have an archery contest. Merida embarrasses her mother and causes a huge fight between them. Merida runs away and meets a witch. When Merida asks for a spell to change her mother, things go really really wrong.

I liked Merida and her little triplet brothers were hilarious. The movie had funny scenes, but it also made you think about how mothers and teenage daughters get along. It showed that sometimes we just don't hear what the other person is trying to say to us. This was probably the first Disney movie that didn't have an evil step-mother to torture the princess. That made it feel a little more realistic, even if there were witches and magic spells and wisps.

Borne legacy review: Ethan Carter

Recently, long-waited for movie has arrived, Borne Legacy. Borne Legacy is a movie about a man named Jason Borne. Jason was part of 2 secret Black-Ops organization called Blackbriar, and Treadstone. After loosing his memory on a mission near the Mediterranean Sea, he was thought to be dead. Later, he shows up in The U.S., unarmed and unaware that the CIA and the two Black ops operations all have tried to terminate him. None of them had success. A few years later, In Borne Legacy, he shows up in Northern Alaska with another former Treadstone operative. Treadstone then decides to get it’s revenge. While borne was outside the cabin that they are staying in, Treadstone then sends in a Predator drone to blow them up. It destroys the Borne’s friend, but Borne survives. Later he realizes that a pill that he was forced to take back in his operative days was something he needs to survive. He finds a female doctor that knows where they are and they go and “raid” the factory in the Phillipeans. They then escape from another assassination  attempt from Treadstone. They escape on a local fishermen’s boat and get “lost”. They then realize that they are happy to be together. All in All, it’s a good movie.

The Tennessee Titans have lost their wide receiver Kenny Britt. He has been suspended for one game by the NFL. Britt will miss the first game for the Titans against the New England Patriots. The game will take place in Nashville on September 9. The Titans will really have to work to win the game, but they do have a fast rookie, Kendall Wright.

Britt was suspended on account of his last eight arrests. Really he got of easy from what could have happened. Doubts were already going around about if Britt would be able to play in the first game. This was because he is still recovering from tearing his ACL and MCL. This happened to him last September and in the offseason he had a procedure on his knee. He was on the injured list at first but taken of Wednesday, but people were still worried about how he would perform the first game.

This weekend is the start of the football season.  Tomorrow Vanderbilt and South Carolina start of the season.  I think it will be a good game.  I think that South Carolina is going to win though.  Also Auburn plays Clemson this weekend at the Georgia Dome,  War Eagle.  I think that that that game is going to be very interesting.  It will help Auburn out since Sammy Watkons is not playing this weekend.  I think that Auburn will be able to pull it off.

I think that  one of the best games of the weekend will be the Alabama Michigan game.  I think that Michigan will pull an upset against Alabama.  I think michigan will win because Alabama’s defense is so young.  They will not be able to contain Denard Robinson Which is Michigan’s Quarterback. But I think that it will be a close game though because Alabama does have a very good offense which they will have to rely on heavily this year.

By:Nadiya Smyrnova Lance Armstrong Lost Everything Because He Cheated

Lance Armstrong a famous bicyclist, was winning so many races that he seamed superhuman. He set a world recored by winning the Tour de France seven times. Other cyclists, journalists and prosecutors started thinking that his performance really was superhuman. It was superhuman because he was using illegal drugs to win.

Tyler Hamilton who was Armstrong’s teammate got caught using illegal performance-enhancing drugs. He told prosecutors that Lance Armstrong was using those drugs as well. The United States Anti-doping Agency said that Lance Armstrong was using the performance enhancing drug called EPO. They also say that they have their own blood samples to prove it. Now he is loosing all of his metals and he can not race again for the rest of his life. Instead of being a hero Mr. Armstrong became a different kind of example: To try to win by cheating is even worse than plain losing.

Give Kids The World by: Mary Kathryn Lawrence

                                                                        Give Kids The World
What is so important about Give Kids The World? Well, it makes kids who have life threatening diseases get to spend a week there and makes the kids feel special for one week.  They have a lot fun and we volunteer at places like: the carousal, ice cream parlor, the palace and make it possible for them to have fun. The kids get one wish to do whatever they want to do, or whoever they wish to meet. Its important for kids to have a good time there because they might not live through the next month or they may but regardless they always have fun no matter what they do, they find fun in whatever they do. The parents that go there know what there kid is going through and knows what may happen but the kid is unaware that they have a problem to that extent.
When you go there you are just supposed to make the kids feel special and always figure out what you can do to make the kids feel happy. The kids always find a way to make you happy and to make everyone happy that is around them. The kids really don’t know how much we do to make there stay a pleasant stay but the parents know and that make them happy to see there kid smile and that you are doing that for them. When you leave that place not only do you feel like your a better person, but you feel good inside that you have helped so many kids smile.  Next time you need a place to make you feel that way go to Give Kids The World and you can feel that way.

Everyone knows that the iPhone 5 is coming out very shortly. Everyone is trying to get rid of the 4s and get the 5. Like the saying, “in with the new, and out with the old.” Apple is so desperate to resale those iPhone 4s’, that they are actually buying them back. I find this ridiculous!
I also think, even though it’s ridiculous, it’s actually a good idea. Apple is refurbishing, and then reselling them. They will end up with more money than they spent on buying them! It’s crazy! Obviously Apple is smarter than what everyone else thinks.

"Facebook's Troubles" by Ian Romine

Is Zuckerberg to blame for Facebook’s slumping stock? Peter Thiel, an early Facebook investor has just sold his initial $500,000 investment in Facebook for a profit upwards of $1,000,000,000. This scares away many investors, because they believe the company will not do well with all these investors selling their shares. Lately, the price of Facebook stock dropped from the initial $38.00 to just $18.75. This is mainly due to Facebook earning their revenue from advertisements, but the company will not explain what exactly they’re spending this revenue on.

Investors are turning to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, for answers. Many believe he is too young to lead a company as large as Facebook. Although many are blaming him for Facebook’s problems, he is not at risk for losing his job. This is due to him owning 20.7% in Facebook’s stock and a 57% voting stake in the company.

The other day a girl was going down the road to put a sign in the ground for a garage sale. As she was nailing it in the ground, a car was coming down the road over 100 mph. When he went around a turn the car flipped and started turning over and over and it jumped over the road and hit the girl and killed her instantly. This is why kids need to be responsible when they are driving so they don`t kill themselves and others.
Another thing that is going on is there is a hurricane that is coming from the gulf. It was heading for Gulf Shores but now it is heading towards New Orleans. All the people in New Orleans are really scared because they don`t want the same thing to happen to them to happen again after hurricane Katrina. So there are a lot of people leaving or fortifying their homes so they can stay alive during the hurricane. I think we should all be praying for the people in New Orleans. This is why you should not build your city under sea level because if a hurricane comes you have no way to protect yourselves.

Vanderbilt vs South Carolina By: Baylor Cohu

College football season is underway. The season started Thursday with smaller teams playing each other. The game of the night was the Vanderbilt commodores against South Carolina.
Jordan Matthews, the former MA star, starts off the night with a 78 yard TD catch but it wasn’t enough to beat the gamecocks. The final score was 17 to 13 which was a lot closer than it was expected to be. Both teams are going to good this year, so it will be interesting to see what happens this season in college football.

Homecoming by Brooke Thornton

I had news and the news about MA is Homecoming. I know many people are ready for the dance everyone’s talking about. Ninth grade girls are talking about how they can’t wait to get a dress and have a lot of fun. Dresses, dancing and just having fun with friends! That’s what many people are talking about at MA.

For the guys too, it’s about the game. They’re excited to play Clemons in the Homecoming game, September 14. We should have a great turn out to support MA. Also, there’s spirit week coming up, too. Between the game and Homecoming, there’s a lot going on around MA.
I love you Brooke your zoo sweet!

Brantley Gilbert Concert by Hannah Williams

Brantley gilbert and new faces in country concert by hannah williams

Last Sunday, August 26th, a concert took place on the Arsenal. The concert showed Brantley Gilbert and some new faces in country. “The new faces” included Sonya Lee, Drake White, Easton Corbin, Kip Moore, Casey James, and Eden’s Edge. Although, I didn’t know about everyone that was singing on the stage, it was a pretty good concert. Starting of was Drake White, it was one of his first concerts, and I could tell that he would make it big sometime in the future. On next was Sonya Lee. I didn’t really like her, it was a country concert, and most of her songs were just annoyingly country or not country at all. After Sonya, Casey James came on the stage, he only had two or three songs, but he was pretty good too. Then, Kip Moore came on the stage and he is a better known artist on the country music radio. Everyone loved him. Then, Eden’s Edge came on, and I was waiting for them and really excited for them to come on. They were really good performers and connected really well with the audience. Right before Brantley Gilbert, Easton Corbin took the stage, he is a better known artist as well. After that, what most of the fans were waiting for, the sun went down and Brantley Gilbert came on, he rocked the stage with all of his songs. Even though Conner and I had to leave before the concert ended, we still were there for most of his songs.
Overall, it was a really good concert, and a great day.

Soulstock by: Reagan Waldron

I went to Soulstock two years ago I think. It was an all day Christian concert my friend brought me to. His dad worked on the stage so him and I got to go backstage. One of the guys on Rick and Bubba was there, I think it was Rick but I can’t remember. There were bands going on all night and my friend and I got up close to the stage.

There were some bands I had never heard of and now I really like them. A lot of them became more known over the past year. One band that I knew of was Fireflies and they were really good that night. During the middle of the day Rick spoke about how his son had died in a pool and how he handled it. I loved all the music that day, there never was a moment that I didn’t enjoy.

"Review of Kristin Stewarts cheating" by Olivia Knott

Kristen Stewart has been dating Robert Pattinson for quite some time now, but not anymore! Kristen was caught cheating with the Snow White and the Huntsmen director, Rupert Sanders, off set while filming. Sanders is married (7 years) and has kids. He has become a very successful man over the years. A couple of weeks ago, many people saw the two outside together kissing and hugging over each other. Talk about PDA! This is not going to go well when Rob finds out about this. A lot of people thought that Robert would maybe “pop the question” after they filmed Breaking Dawn: Part 2, but I don’t think that will happen anymore!
This puts Kristin in a terrible situation. Robert did an interview a while back saying that Kristin was so nice and fun to be around, and she always wanted to be doing something together. Why do people do these things? Cheating, divorce, abuse, bullying, etc. It has gotten so bad in the past 10 years. Stewart has publicly apologized for her “mess up.” I hope Kristin has learned her lesson and hopefully she will be forgiven by her boyfriend, Robert Pattinson.

Review of The Game by Parker Daniel

Overview:
The Game stars Michael Douglas as he portrays a Fat-Cat multimillionaire who is very out of reality, and very in touch with his money.  This changes on his birthday, when his brother gives him a present, a “game,” created by a company called Consumer Recreation Services (CRS).  The movie intensifies as the game gets deeper, and it appears as if CRS is trying to kill him.  Things become even stranger, and it seems as if everyone is in on it, his brother, his new girlfriend, even his entire company.  I’m not going to say much more, because that would spoil the movie, especially like this one, relying on suspense.

Review:
I would give this movie a 9.5 out of 10, and also one of my favorites of all time.  I  love psychological thrillers like this one.  It is a thrilling movie to watch, very suspenseful, and a huge twist at the very end.  I would advise anyone who can think to watch this movie because it is very much like Inception, in that it is very tough to understand.

The "Review of fake followers on twitter" by Cody Littlejohn

Did you know that some of twitter followers are fake? According to this new app, that checks out how many followers of yours are fake, about 33% of twitter followers are fake. A London-based social media management firm StatusPeople created an online tool to go through your followers and find out which ones are fake. The website is http://fakers.statuspeople.com/Fakers/ it is very good to use and tells you what you the truth is about your followers.

The fake followers mostly follow big accounts like the @facebook account, which actually has 44% fake followers. The fake followers are spam bots that usually have no tweets, follow a ton of people, and have hardly any or no followers at all. So watch out for those signs, and you will probably avoid the fake accounts.

Natalie Conrad View of Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow had a great career at the University of Florida. That career included two national championships. He then went to the NFL and was drafted by the Denver Broncos. Some people didn’t like Tebow because he was a Christian and they criticized him, but he chose to ignore them and kept thanking and praising God for his amazing talents. I think he is an awesome person and a great example because of that. Tim Tebow did not start as the Broncos quarterback until about the middle of the season. He then led the broncos to eight straight wins.
Tebow gained a large fan base after his last season with the Broncos. Then, Tebow was drafted to the New York Jets after his season with the Broncos. He is now challenging Mark Sanchez for the starting quarterback spot. There is now controversy over who will start in New York for the Jets. Tebow is wanted fans more than Mark even though Mark has been there longer. Tebow is a great example of how to stay humble and realize that if it wasn’t for God, he wouldn’t be where he is now.

Matthew Huntley View of Eagles and Patriots

I am reviewing the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriot’s game.
The game was close the whole time especially in the fourth quarter when the Patriots were trying to catch back up.  The Eagles quarter back, Michael Vick ,was injured early in the game. He was hit after he threw a pass by a Patriot’s defensive linebacker.  His ribs were hit directly by the helmet of Jermaine Cunningham.  The Patriots led at the end of the first quarter 3-0.
The Patriots in the second quarter had a touchdown pass throw by Ryan Mallet to Alex Silvestro and the Patriots then led 11-0. The Eagles answered back on the next drive with a touchdown run by LeSean McCoy.  The Eagles stopped the Patriots on their next drive and scored again and led 14-11.  Patriots drove down the field and made a field goal which tied the game before halftime.  The Eagles came out to finish in the second half and scored right away. The Eagles now led the Patriots 24-14.  The Patriots drove down field on their next drive but were eventually forced to kick a field goal and they were then trailing 24-17.  The fourth quarter was the best the Patriots had played all game long on defense. They held the Eagles to only a field goal in the fourth quarter.  The offense for New England just could not get it going and did not score the fourth quarter.  The Eagles beat the Patriots 27-17.

"Review of Texas Judge warning of Civil War if President Obama is re-elected" by Tyler French

An elected county judge in Lubbock, Texas warned that the nation could fall into a Civil War if President Obama is re-elected.  The Judge,Tom Head, is calling for a trained, well equipped Army that could battle United Nations troops that he thinks President Obama would send.  The judge has told his Sheriff to start getting equipment for their own Army.  The judge also told the Sheriff to start training people so there are closer to veterans then to rookies.  The judge says, “Think about the very worst thing that can happen and prepare for that and hope and pray for the best.”
President Obama is trying to pass a law that will allow the search and seizure of property.  President Obama is trying to pass the Quartering Acts that the British passed before the Revolutionary War.  Judge Head believes that America may go through another civil war if President Obama is re-elected.  Judge Head discusses that Texans are proposing to secede from our nation.  It’s time to start choosing sides, will you go with Obama or will you go with a newer United States?

"Review of Empire State Shooting" by Malik Miller

Ten people were shot on Friday, August 24, outside the Empire State building in New York. Witnesses say that they heard what sounded like gunshots around 9a.m. Several ambulances reported to the scene after the unnamed gunman released fire. The Gunman was dead at the crime scene. New York resident Max Kaplan,22, said he heard the whole thing. “We’re all very shaken up at the office,” he said.
This is defiantly nationwide news. We don’t know the conditions of the victims yet, there will be updates keeping you informed as the situation is investigated. The Empire State building is one of the largest tourist attractions in New York. On average about 4 million people visit there a year. People! Lets stop the violence and stop harming our innocent citizens.

Review of NBA by Zachary Nobrega

In the last month there has been a lot going on in the NBA. Free agency has been going on. Jeremy Lin was signed by the Houston Rockets because The New York Knicks did not match the offer. Even though they said they would match up to a billion. Ray Allen took half us much money to sign with the defending champion, Miami Heat, instead of re-signing with the Boston Celtics.
The Brooklyn Nets tried to trade for Dwight Howard. They failed, but they did get Joe Johnson in a trade. The Los Angeles Lakers signed Steve Nash. Then they traded for Dwight Howard, without losing Pau Gasol. The Dallas Mavericks lost Jason Kidd and Jason Terry, but signed OJ Mayo. The Thunder extended Serge Ibaka’s contract for 4 years, and the Charlotte Bobcats are still probably going to be the worst team.

"Review of West Nile Virus" by A.J. Ikard

In Birmingham, Alabama the mosquitoes are trying to be stopped from spreading the West Nile Virus as the number of people infected is rising. The virus does not only effect humans but also animals such as horses. There has been one confirmed case of a horse that has died but many more have died also. One doctor has treated two dozen horses in one day for the West Nile Virus. The doctor says the owners should get all of their animals vaccinated if they have not done it already.

For humans it is different. There is not a vaccine for humans to take. People over fifty may develop a serious illness from the West Nile Virus. The symptoms can occur between three and fourteen days. Some signs of the virus are fever, headache, tiredness, body aches, skin rashes, and swollen lymph glands. There have been twelve reported cases so far in Alabama. This is what is happening in Alabama.

"Review of The Hunger Games" by Taylor Trach

The Hunger Games was filmed in many different places but mostly in North Carolina.
Its about a colony that has an annual Hunger Games where one boy  and one a girl represent from each district.  They all go to a huge dome  that,s filled with trees and pretty much like being put in the a forrest. In the center is the cornucopia that holds everything you need to survive. The hard part is getting to it because you are  in open fire. Its district election day and it District 12`s turn and the name for the boy is Peter and the girl is Primrose Everdeen and Katniss Everdeen volunteers as tribute because she didn't want her little sister to die. It is now Katniss and Peter for District 12. Their are 12 districts striving to survive and so each districts team members go to the capital for 2 weeks to train and to get supporters. If they get hurt the supporters can send them medicine when they need it the most. As the movie goes on it gets more intense as they go who will be the next annual hunger games winner .......

Review of "Based On A True Story" by Joshua Langford

Today I will talk about the album “Based On a True Story”. I think “Based On A True Story” is a pretty decent album. It was made by a rapper named 2 Chainz. He dropped the album August 14,2012. It took only two weeks for the album to be number one on almost every album listing in America.

I think this album will be go down as being one of the best albums was ever made in the hip hop business. I also believe that 2 Chainz will be known worldwide because of this album. I blogged about this album because I think this is one of the best albums produced in the year 2012. I am sure “Def Jam Records” is very excited about this album and proud of 2 Chainz. Tune in to the next blog about the top 10 greatest rappers.

Review of Mike Trout by Trey Owens

Twenty One years ago, on a hot summer day, the date was August 7th, 1991. Mike Trout was born in a very small city, Millville, NJ. Last year was his first year in the MLB. He didn’t go to college, he was the 25th pick in the 2009 draft by the Los Angeles Angels.
He hit 18 home runs his senior year of high school, that is a New Jersey record. In 2011, Trout had 27 hits and 5 home runs. So far in 2012, he has 140 hits and 24 home runs. He might even win the MVP this year. In the future, I see him being one of the best players around.

Review of Pakistani Twitter Star Goes Off-Line by Kyle Siersma

I did my review over Pakistanis Twitter community losing, @MajorlyProfound, the most popular satirist in the country. He was loved for his acid commentary on the powerful and their prejudices. The unexpected closing of his account has sent electronic cries of anguish through the Twitter community in Pakistan. @MajorlyProfound had over 10,000 followers on his account, many of them Pakistani and Indian social media news workers.

The disappearance of him/her has left behind many concerned fans, many coming up with theories such as him being abducted or threatened. Others believe that he will reincarnate into a new person. Many of the “wimmins” in @MajorlyProfounds world were particularly upset.

"Review of Colorado Shooting" by: Tiffany Von Tungeln

It was the premiere night of “The Dark Night Rises” the night of the shooting. On July 21, 2012, out in Aurora Colorado, a man of the name James Holmes shot out a theater. He wore a gas mask, and even dyed his hair orange. He referred to himself as “The Joker.” Nobody moved because they all thought it was part of the show. Before they knew it, a smoke bomb was thrown and people were murdered.
On that night twelve people were murdered and fifty-eight others were wounded. James Holmes’ apartment was inspected and found with various explosives. He was charged guilty with murder and attempted murder. Now Aurora, Colorado is trying to move forward with ceremonies and memorials. Even the community is helping them recover.

"Review of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" by Jonathan Ruh

Talladega Nights is a comedy that was made in 2006 starring Will Ferrell. There is also John C. Reilly who also stars in other Will Ferrell starred movies like Step Brothers. In Talladega Nights there is a man by the name of Ricky Bobby that is a NASCAR driver that wins all of the races. But one day a French man by the name of Jean Girard comes and faces Ricky Bobby in the next race and beats him. Then Ricky gets in a bad crash next race and has to recover and gain his former glory.
The reason I like this movie is because it is hilarious and Will Ferrell is a very good actor. I think it is funny how Ricky Bobby named his kids Walker and Texas Ranger. Another reason I like it is because it takes place in Alabama. I think it is a very deep movie about how you can be at he very bottom and rise to be the best. It teaches how to convince yourself that you may just not be paralyzed. I Recommend anyone and everyone to watch it.

Review of Body Identified As Missing Teacher by Preslee Lones

Amy Patterson was a former Huntsville resident. She had been reported missing since last July. Amy had been living with her boyfriend, Daniel Proctor. After Patterson’s disappearance, he became the lead suspect in the case. Proctor didn’t get caught by that case, he was convicted by theft charges Tuesday. With already having other felony convictions, he was sentenced to life.
After his sentencing, Proctor told investigators where you could find the body of his girlfriend. Amy Patterson’s body was found Tuesday afternoon close to where the couple had lived together in Florida. Investigators found out it was Amy because of her dental records. If Daniel Proctor will be charged with the crime, has not been said yet.

"Review of 'Homeboy' by Eric Church" by Jacob Williams

I like the music video “Homeboy” by Eric Church because the message is great message to the viewers. The song is about a teenager that has gotten in trouble by the police because of alcohol, drugs, etc. It gives me more of a kick because my brother has had a problem with all of that and somehow made it out clean. The song says that “Here you are runnin’ these dirty old streets”; I like this because it tells you to think about what you are about it get yourself into, or you might regret it.
There is really nothing bad to say about this music video or song in general. It is a masterpiece in my opinion. Something else I like about it is that you got to see what it is like being arrested and put in jail. I know that may sound rough and sometimes hard to view, but that is what people do to get things imprinted in your mind that it is the wrong thing. I think Eric Church did an outstanding job on getting this message out to his fans and followers and has got many people thinking. Great song and video!

"Review of Soul Surfer" by Caroline Dearman

Soul Surfer, based on a true story, is about a young teenager in Hawaii who lives to surf and compete. One morning, while Bethany Hamilton, best friend Alana Blanchard, Alana’s brother and dad go out to catch some waves, Bethany’s life is suddenly changed forever when she endures a shark attack and looses almost her whole arm.
After being released from the hospital, Bethany is impatient to get back in the water, and even to continue competing with just one arm. Throughout the movie, Bethany becomes closer to her family, her friends, her church family, and God. This movie is great for everyone. It’s inspiring, uplifting, and true.

"Review of the Top Ten Songs of the Week" by Jordan Marshall

I know everyone has heard the song “ Call Me Maybe”. It has been the top song of 2012 for a while now. I think this popular summer song is getting less and less popular as people are getting tired of it. The top song of the week this week, is “Whistle”. This song was recorded by Flo Rida, a well known hiphop/Pop artist who also sings “Low”. The new song on the list has a mature meaning and is not a very appropriate for younger listeners. This song was recorded in Acapulco, Mexico. “Some Nights”, by Fun, comes in after “Call Me Maybe” at number three on the top ten. Fun also sings “We are Young” which was also a very popular song this summer.

I have noticed that the music video of the song can really make or break the songs popularity. If you have ever seen the music video for the song, “ Somebody That I Used the Know”, you will remember that it very strange and really grabs your attention. It makes you remember the song and every time you hear it, it makes you want to go watch the music video. If you have a video that will grabs someone’s attention, it might help out the popularity of the song.

"Review of Alternative Music" by Kyle Swearengen

Music is really diverse and has many variations to it, so diverse it can’t even be summed up in just two paragraphs.  But I will probably just talk about a small part of it today.  I will elaborate on just one genre called alternative.  Alternative is a softer form of rock with a little bit of electronic.

Alternative is not like the other forms of rock that are heavier and louder. It has a more relaxed and sometimes slower sound to it. In my opinion, alternative rock just sounds better.  I prefer both because they’re alternative either way.  Some bands that usually play alternative music are Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Radiohead and many more!

"Review of Katy Perry"

It seems like Katy Perry and John Mayer are NOT doing what ever it is they were doing. Though Katy’s and John’s personal reps are keeping quiet. The reports are saying that the NEVER official couple are NOT dating anymore. Now that Katy is single and John is a free man, does that mean that we will soon see “PART OF ME PART 2?”
The source says that they’ll end up as friends though. The source says that :“They were honestly having fun. People made it more than it really was.” The source states that friendship can NEVER be love! But there are questions about it if they were NOT having a romance why is Katy so upset? And why does John miss her bikini malfunction at a water park?
Katy’s news of the sudden togetherness shocked every one on august 2. Source says that “they were seen eating dinner together after which followed a beautiful evening together.” Katy who just not so long ago divorced her husband Russell brand was having a lot of free and fun time as well as “sleepovers” with john mayer.

"Review of The 2012-2013 NBA Season" by: Melissa MIlton

There has been huge controversy over the trades that the NBA has made this year, such as Dwight Howard going to the Los Angeles Lakers, and leaving the Orlando Magic, also Ray Allen leaving his beloved Boston to go to the Miami Heat. We also have Steve Nash who was traded to the Lakers. The big talk is who do we predict to win the 2012-2013 NBA title. The Los Angeles, with a starting line up consisting of Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, the forever amazing Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard and MWP (Metta World Peace), or will it be the defending champs! The Miami heat, they have a starting line up of Ray Allen, Lebron “all-star” James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and Mario Chalmers. And the very young but, very talented Oklahoma City. With Kevin Durant, Thabo Sefolosha, Serge Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins, and Russell Westbrook. Which team will come out on top?

Now, the main two are The Lakers and The Heat, but will Oklahoma come out as as an underdog? Most polls suggest that Miami will win, but each team is stacked. It will be a very close call indeed, but whoever wins between the three it will be bitter sweet. All the main players of each of the three teams played together in the London Olympics, they all won the gold metal together and shared that happiness and now they are playing against each other. All in all this is the best the NBA has been in a while, with Kobe leading his team a 34 years old (his birthday was august 23rd) and Durant, Westbrook and Harden who are all 23, and 24 they are one of the best generations of basketball we will see. So I hope you take all that I have said in this article and when you watch the NBA you will know what’s going on, but first we have college football to get through!
