Brave by: Cassie Naff

Do you ever feel like your parents don't understand you? That's the way Merida feels in the movie "Brave". She is a princess in Scotland who loves to ride horses and shoot arrows with her bow. Her mother doesn't think this is proper behavior for a princess and decides it's time for her to get married. Of course Merida hates this idea. When the three guys chosen to be her husband have an archery contest. Merida embarrasses her mother and causes a huge fight between them. Merida runs away and meets a witch. When Merida asks for a spell to change her mother, things go really really wrong.

I liked Merida and her little triplet brothers were hilarious. The movie had funny scenes, but it also made you think about how mothers and teenage daughters get along. It showed that sometimes we just don't hear what the other person is trying to say to us. This was probably the first Disney movie that didn't have an evil step-mother to torture the princess. That made it feel a little more realistic, even if there were witches and magic spells and wisps.
