Everyone knows that water is very important to our lives. We use it all through the day from taking showers in the morning, to simple washing our hands. You probable use it a lot more than you think, but I don’t think anybody uses 1.2 million gallons of water at there house in three months.

A man in Atlanta, Georgia, received a water bill of $ 62,823.21. The amount of water that pays for, is enough to fill two olympic pools. After the man complained a couple of times and hired a plumber to take a look for a leak. A watershed worker finally came by to check the meter to see if it was messed up. There was nothing wrong with it, so he ask the watershed officials again to take a look. He says that much water just doesn't disappear. They agreed with him; so they will come again and take another look for the leaks sometime soon.

        Carly is an interesting girl. She wrote a song with no meaning. It doesn’t make any sense! It is very weird. She needs to learn how to write an actual song that is good.

On the other hand the song is very catchy. It has a fast beat that everybody likes. “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepson is very fun to sing. Even though the song doesn’t make any sense it is a very catchy song.

Matthew Huntley NFL replacement refs

The NFL refs are on strike because of money.  The replacement refs are very bad and people have complained about them since the pre season. The officials before the lockout earned about 150,000 dollars.  The refs are still on strike while the NFL still has the worst refs.

The players are also upset or I would say angry about the replacement refs. The real refs did reach an agreement recently to come back and ref. Everybody is happen now that the replacement refs are gone. They were the worst refs in NFL history according to some people.

George Strait tour By Wyatt

Gorge Strait and Martina McBride are touring together. They are going to go all over the country. George said that this is his last tour. I am very excited about their tour.

Their tour is starting in a few days. The tour is 2 years long. After the tour, George is going to retire. George has had a big influence on Country music. I hope more singers like him come to Nashville. 

Movie Review By: Joshua Langford

I know we have all heard of the movie “ Life”. If you haven’t you need to watch with your parents  “LOL”. I think “Life” is one of the greatest movies ever to be made. I have watched it over a million of times. Its main characters are Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. They are hilarious in this movie.

“Life” take place back in the late 60s early 70s when racism was a big thing. Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are from New York. They end up in Mississippi  because they are shippings somebody alcohol down there for them.Then they end up at this bar at the wrong place at the wrong time. They end up going to jail, then they get sentenced to life in jail. If you haven’t seen it you need to watch it and remember who told you to see it.

World War III? Is Revelation and Isaiah to be Fulfilled?

Are we at the door step of World War III? Yesterday, at the 67th UN assembly, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has drawn a red line, but no attack yet. Iran is close to nuclear weapon development being completed. If Israel attacks, Iran will attack U.S bases in the region. Meanwhile, Iraq has intercepted weapon shipments from Iran to Syria. Russia also has been sending arms to the Syrian regime. The Syrian Civil War is horrible and full of innocent slaughter. All the UN has done is talk and action must be taken. 

From my belief of the Christian Bible, It is foretold that Israel will attack Babylon( Modern Iran). Iran and other nations in the middle east will strike back and wipe Israel off the face of the earth as punishment from God. An anti-Christ will rise looking like a world peace leader. He will try to rebuild the temple, proclaim false things, and try to make himself a God. This violence is called the Tribulation Period  and will last for seven years. Then Judgment will come. The time is near and we will not know the hour or day, but we will know that it has begun with Israel attacking Iran. 

The New iPhone By: Olivia Knott

          The new iPhone 5 came out on September 21 and has already sold over 5 million phones. To me, that is just amazing. So many people waited outside just to get a glimpse of this new phone, and people waited for over 2 days outside of the Apple store just to buy this phone. The reason for waiting so long is because of the new and improved software. Apple says that it is faster than ever and it provides more things to do. I really want the new iPhone, but I don’t think it was worth the wait especially if you were in cold weather, rain, humidity, etc.

        The new things in the phone are supposed to be really awesome. One of the new features on the camera is called panorama. You can hold down the camera button and move at the same time, and it makes a picture out of it. I think that is so cool! Also on the new iPhone, there is an extra column where you put your apps; so instead of 4 rows, there are 5! Lastly, the software is new and improved, and supposed to be really fast. I don’t like when my phone is slow, so hopefully I can get the new iPhone 5 and it will work super fast.

         For those who don’t know, Tobuscus is a person on youtube that does a lot of videos.  He has made a few songs; most of them are really good.  His songs will get stuck in your head, just to warn you.  2

One of his songs is called “Nugget in a Biscuit”.  If you haven’t heard it, you should look it up.  You’ll be singing it before its over, and then you wont stop singing it.  Another one of his songs is “Safety Torch”.  It is pretty good and not as repetitive.  I recommend his songs to everyone.  Go look them up on youtube and hear true music!

   The music video awards were on MTV on September sixth in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. The performances went very well this year. All of the performers consisted of 2 Chainz, Alicia Keys, Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean, Green Day, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Pink, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift. One Direction has really gotten famous this year, and this was their first year performing on the VMA’s! There were all sorts of stars, old and new!

   This years VMA’s had a variety of winners. Rihanna won the video of the year with “We Found Love,” One Direction, of coarse, won the New Best Artist with “What Makes You Beautiful.” The Best Female Video award went to Nicki Minaj with “Starships.” The Best Hip-Hop Video was “HYFR” by Drake ft. Lil Wayne. Chris Brown made the best male video in performing “Turn Up The Music. Going along with the best artist, One Direction also made the Best Pop Video with “What Makes You Beautiful. There were many other awards, but those were the ones I found most interesting..until next year!

Taylor Swift’s new album “Red” is coming out in a few short weeks. October 22 is the release date. Her hit “We are never ever getting back together” is on the album. “Red” is highly-anticipated album. 

Good morning America will be doing 30 second previews of “Red”. Taylor Swift’s we are never ever getting back together broke the record for most female sales in a week. This song was said to be written about Jake Gyllenhaal. Swift has said she loves the new album. 

"Movie Stuff" by Kyle Swearengen

        The best movie that was ever made is The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. The plot of the movie is just fantastic! It has the perfect mix of action and drama in it. Also, the funny parts in the movie will keep you interested the whole time. Did I forget to mention that Taylor Lautner is in it? That probably is the best part of the movie. 

My overall rating for the movie that I would give it is probably a 9.5 out of 10. That’s how good the movie is. I totally recommend this movie to everyone of all ages. From action lovers to comedies, this movie will stay in your heart.  I hope you will go see.

Madison Academy Varsity Football 

2012-2013

The last game the Madison Academy  Mustangs played was against Deshler Tigers.  It was a great night for the Mustangs in the defeat of the Deshler Tigers. The score was 28-7. Some great highlights of the game was  Nick Haas had a punt return but they didn't count it because there was a block in the back. Also Kerryon  Johnson had a 50 yard touchdown. this was a great game for the Mustangs!

Rumor has it that John Mayer and Katy Perry have broken up. People just guessed that they were going out from pictures they saw with them together. They soon realized they were really going out and it was over before they knew it. Katy said he was “the one” and was super upset about it. All the fans were also upset because they thought they were the perfect couple. Sometimes things just aren’t meant to be. Katy Perry has gone through so much heartbreak with a divorce that just recently happened and the rumored relationship with Tim Tebow.

Like I said, Katy Perry had not too long ago gotten a divorce. She and Russell Brand were supposedly meant to be, but things change and people change. People say that it was just too hard to be in a long distance relationship like Russell and Katy had to be in. Although, Katy made so much effort to see him when he was practically on the other side of the world. Russell made no effort whatsoever. Katy said that was the hardest time in her life when Russell was starting to show no care for her. I can’t imagine what is it like to go through another heartbreak like she is with John Mayer right now. 

JV Volleyball Games by Caroline Dearman

On Tuesday, September 25^th, the Madison Academy JV volleyball team traveled to West Morgan to play West Morgan and Danville in a tri-match. The first game, we played West Morgan and beat them in the first two sets. We played rough at first but we pulled through to finished what we trained for.

In the second game, we played Danville, which was actually our third time to play them, out of tournaments. We beat them also and played better as a team in our second match. Overall, is was a good day in mustang volleyball. 

"The Redneck Games"- by Jonathan Ruh

Every year the biggest rednecks join together to do the Redneck Games. They are held in East Dublin, Georgia annually. This event was created through General Manager for WQZY-FM “Y96”; Mac Davis in response to something said by the media; that when the 1996 Olympic Games went to Atlanta, it would be hosted by a group of rednecks. Taking offense to this, Mac Davis and some locals set up their very own annual Redneck Games.

These games include seed spitting, toilet seat tossing, and dumpster diving. There is also the armpit serenade. I think the most intense would be the mud pit belly flop sport. Also, there is a Canadian version of the Redneck Games is held in Minto, Ontario since 2006.

Nasa’s Mars rover Curiosity seems to have discovered an ancient streambed. The water probably flowed in large volumes in hip-deep places across the Martian surface. Photos taken by the Curiosity rover has revealed stones cemented into conglomerate rock. Some of them are round which means they were transported a long way by water.

The Scientists predict that the water was moving about 3 feet per second. This is the first time they have seen water-transported gravel. The photograph of the water-transported gravel was taken inside a place called Gale Crater. They think the water flowed billions of years ago.

The iPhone 5 by Jordan Marshall

So, I know everyone has heard about the new iPhone 5 coming out soon. A couple days ago thats all we would hear about. Now, a lot of people have discovered the new iPhone 4 update, the iOS 6. It has really effected the maps app more than anything. It works more like Google maps now. You can go on the satellite and see yours, or anyone else’s neighborhood in a 3D. Although it is kind of slower, it is a really cool feature.

Back to the iPhone 5, there is going to be a lot of nice changes and a lot of new features. The screen will be bigger, but the phone will be lighter. It will have a better camera and video camera, a different charger, better Seri, and better maps. I have mixed feelings about the charger, being that I have to replace all the ones i have, with the new chargers. Hopefully they will make adapters too so I can still use my speakers that I like. With all this talk, I’m so excited to get the brand new iPhone 5. 

A Cinderella Story by Jordan Marshall

If you have ever seen the movie, Another Cinderella story, you will know that it is based off of the Disney movie, Cinderella. There are two of the redone Cinderella movies. One of them stars Hillary Duff and one stars Selena Gomez. They both have somewhat the same plot but more modern twists. 

Both stories include the evil step sisters that the main character gets stuff with when her father dies. The step mother is evil to her and makes her do all of the dirty chores.  She has a very rough high school and everyone gives her a hard time when she falls in love with the most popular guy.They are all really good movies and the directors did a very good job of basing it on the original film.

The Avengers by Noah Harrison

By now most people have seen the action movie The Avengers. It is about the group of super heroes that team together to help defend Earth from the invading forces of Loki from Thor’s home-planet. Loki is Thor’s brother who becomes power hungry and wants to take over Earth. Thor defeated Loki once before, but now he needs help from the team of The Avengers on Earth.

The team is made up of Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, and Black Widow. They all must join forces to defeat Loki and his army. They do not get along at first but come together in the end to get victory. When they unite with their powers, they are unstoppable. Go Avengers and I hope they make a sequel to this awesome movie.

Movies: The Curse of the Black Pearl by Caroline Gibbs on 9 28 12!!

What do I think about the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl you may wonder? Well. let me tell you about what I think!! It is one of my favorite movies ever! What I think about the movie is that it is exciting with an adventurous life out at sea seeking to break the the curse of the Black Pearl ship which is Captain Jack Sparrow’s ship! This movie makes my heart overwhelm with excitement, adventure , love, battles, finding treasure, and trying to seek the most important things in life so basically everyone is on an adventure really! 

I think that everyone should see it because it is exciting, adventurous,funny, family fun movie that everyone will enjoy!! If you love pirates, then you will love all of their movies because they are all about the pirate’s life and adventures out at sea seeking for something that eventually will be found!! They are all my favorite movies and since I like them, then you would love them too if you saw them!!

There are many ways to stay in contact with friends today.  Weather that be with Facebook, twitter, or instagram ect...  Now we don’t even need a computer, we have it all in our hands on our phone.  I don’t think these are always good because they can become a big distraction for us.  We need to make sure we put that over grades.

With the click of a button you can start a party next weekend or become in a relationship.  This might sound all fun, but peoples life’s have been ruined by what people say because they are protected by a screen.  Since you can say what ever you please technology is not always a blessing to us.  it can tear friends apart and create new enemies.

The Republican candidate for President, Mitt Romney, is a very good choice.

Although he is a different religion, he has proven himself to be moral, a good family man, and a good leader.  Mr. Romney has held offices in both the public and private parts of public life.  As a successful businessman he understands you must make a budget and stick to it or that business goes under.  I believe he will take this understanding into the White House.  President Obama does not seem to understand the importance of sticking to a budget.  During his time in office, he has increased our national debt by sixteen trillion dollars.  If he is reelected, I think our economy will tank, possibly forever.  Obama does not respect marriage or life as God intended.  Romney does.  Also, Romney seems to understand that if people are given everything, their pride and motivation is hurt.  Government programs are good if they help people for a short time until they can get back on their feet, but they should not become part of people’s lifestyles.  Obama does not agree with this.  He says he believes all should pursue their dreams for a better life and all should pay their fair share, but his actions prove he is a liar.  We also need a president, like Romney, who will not let us be pushed around by other countries.  We became the greatest nation in the world largely because others knew to respect us.  Today, many are disrespectful toward us because they know they can be.  Obama seems to apologize for our strength.  The events of the past week prove that friendly discussions do not work with those who want to wipe our country off the map.   I think Romney is our best choice for president, and I hope he is elected.

I chose Never Say Never and I think it is a very inspirational story to everyone and for them to never give up for what we believe in. It teaches you that you shouldn’t let anything come between you and your dreams because anything is possible. I learned that anything you believe, and  anything that you want to do with your future or dreams you can is what Justin Bieber’s movie that me religiously.

This movie is a have to see I think because everyone should be touched and inspired like I was when i saw this movie. This movie really makes you happy for what  you have and not to be selfish. He grew up below the poverty line and he is where he is right now because of people believing in his dreams. I loved this movie and I watch it over and over or whenever I’m down that day. I recommend this movie to everyone and once you see it I hope you will see that, too!

The popular song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift was announced to be about Jake Gyllenhaal, her ex-boyfriend. Although Jake was dramatically older than Taylor, they still managed to keep up a good relationship for a while. They were caught by camera men everywhere.

 

After a while, Taylor got attached and Jake started to hate all the attention they were getting from people everywhere to put them on the cover of a magazine. Jake broke her heart, and we all know what that means, another break up song. That is how the break-out song came along. It was proven that in fact was about Jake Gyllenhaal.

Movie Review by Ben Johnston

The Avengers is a good movie. The only problem is I feel like a nerd when watching this movie. This movie has a lot of fictional Hero’s. Iron man, Captan america and the rest of the Avengers fight off a alien force that is so powerful it takes all of them to save the day. 

This movie is a bit nerdy but, fun to watch. I give this movie 7 out of 10. Although it lacked a story behind how they got together in the first place. This movie is a must see     

if your in to super hero movies.

The real referees were greeted with a standing ovation Thursday night as they returned to the field after a new contract was announced less than a day earlier. It may be the last time fans will voice their opinion on the recent NFL lockout that brought replacement referees to the football field.

Thursday's 23 to 16 win by the Baltimore Ravens over the Cleveland Browns went on without much controversy, a far cry from the gaffe-filled display that punctuated the first three weeks of the professional football season. 

(This was the worst call ever!) The league acknowledged Tuesday that the Packers should have won, but allowed the result of the game to stand. NFL chief apologizes about the replacement refs, Goodell declined to criticize the replacements despite weeks of botched calls that raised the ire of fans nationwide. "Everything they did, every call, was magnified," Goodell said. "They kept the game going. They worked hard. They trained hard. They were incredibly focused and dedicated." Henry Zaborniak, a fill-in line judge who lives in Ohio, said it was a hard job. "We worked as hard as we could and we did the best we could," said Zaborniak, who spent 15 years as a Big Ten official,. "None of us felt like we could replace the regular guys. You can't replace that sort of ability en masse."

“The House At The End of The Street” was not as scary as i thought it was going to be. It was more of things jumping out at you kind of scary. I went and saw it with my friend this past Saturday. It was a pretty packed movie. I normally don’t watch scary movies but this one was a good one. It has a very big twist to the story. 

I think the trailer makes it look more scary then what it is. It made be be on the edge of my seat for some of it. Its a action movie and has a lot going on during the movie. It is not a slow action movie once it gets to the point and start to figure everything out it gets really good.

  I herd so many people say that they love Lady Gaga because she is so weird, funny and sweet. Maybe they are right about somethings she is funny. Her costumes are crazy and she can make you laugh but there are things that I do not like about her. First she sets a bad example for small kids who listen to her music and who look at the way she dresses. Second thing that I do not like about her is that she calls her fans monsters. There are boundaries that people should not cross and inspiring kids to be like monsters instead of being more good is one of the things that she likes to do so much.

      Lady Gaga is the most famous singer that is present right now. Her music is catchy but her lyrics are something that kids should be for beaded to listen to. She can influence adults and children to be something that she wants them to be. That is wrong that she has so much power over people. I do not know her. She might be a nice person inside but everything outside of her is disgusting and bad. She is not someone that people should be looking up to.

If you have an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad there is a new update that is amazing. This update makes your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch more powerful and more fun to use. There are some cool new features that come with it. One thing is called Siri. It lets you use your voice to end messages or schedule meetings and more. All you have to do is talk. They made the messages, FaceTime, map, music, and safari more efficient to use. 

The messages includes iMessage which is a messaging service thats even better than texting. It’s free over Wi-Fi and anyone using an iOS device or Mac. Also now you can save your web pages in the iCloud Tab. There is also AirPlay which lets you wirelessly stream what’s on your iOS device to your HDTV and speakers on the Apple TV. Or you can mirror exactly what’s on your display. I have done this update and it is amazing with all the new stuff you can do and how it looks.

For those of you who do not know, lecrae came out with a new album about 2 weeks ago. Lecrae is a christian rapper and arguably the best one out there. His new album titled gravity are becoming very popular very fast. His music is very inspirational about your christian walk and how you do not have to be ashamed about who you believe in. 

He can also relate to all kinds of audiences because of his background and his style of music. If you are looking for a rap style of music that has a good message then I would highly recommend Lecrae and especially his new album. 

"Some Nights" by: Maggie Crabb

My favorite song right now is Some Nights, by fun. I like this song because the first time I heard it was in the car with a few of my friends. We thought it sounded like monkeys running through a jungle. It was so funny! 

Now on the way to our volleyball games we turn it on and everyone gets excited. That is usually what gets us pumped up for a game. Now it is our volleyball teams song!

Plan B by: Cassie Naff

New York City public schools are now offering Plan B, the morning-after pill, to girls as young as 14 years old.  Taking this pill keeps a girl from becoming pregnant if she takes it within 72 hours of having sex.  The school leaders say that this is the best way to prevent teen pregnancies.  Parents can sign a form to keep their daughter from taking part in the program if they want to.  If parents allow their daughters to participate, she can get the pill whenever she wants to without her parents knowing about it.  So far, only 1 to 2 percent of parents have prevented their daughters from receiving the pill.

This seems like a crazy idea to me!  We can’t take any kind of medicine at school without permission from our parents.  It just can’t be right for a girl to get this kind of pill without her parents knowing about it.  This is really powerful medicine!  They say they have more than 7,000 teen pregnancies in New York City each year.  Most of those end in abortions.  Instead of just giving them a pill, maybe someone should be talking to them about waiting until marriage.

Well I am doing my social article on Obama. He is fake he is not a real person. He is controlled by Romney which is just a political ploy to distract us of what is really happening. The mormons are going to take us over. They are planning an all out attack on Toyota ,Jeep , Nissan and every other car you can think of. It makes me sad to think that every person that is not a mormon has to forfeit there car because of one religion. This country was born on freedom of speech, religion,etc and these mormons just want to ruin this for us.

I might even start a mass riot if they do not back down. It makes me feel like they don’t care about our religion. It might turn out to be armageddon who knows. I guess if it happens it happens so I guess I will let it be. Just one thing if it is the end then goodbye.

The movie that will be discussed in this article is “Courageous.” It was an emotional movie. There was moments where you wanted to cry, laugh, and other moments where you were nervous for the characters. The movie was very entertaining. It was a very spiritual movie as well.

My favorite scene is the Snake King scene. The main characters had plans to go to lunch, when he got called to take a person to jail. The main characters best friend is in the back seat and he is to pretend that he is a leader of a deadly gang, “The Snake Kings.” It was very funny!

I am writing about movies this week. The movie that I will be writing about is the Dark Night Rises. This is a great movie if you like a bunch of action. I saw it 3 times and I liked it every time. I would recommend this movie to anyone my age. I don`t think girls would like it as much as the guys but I think they would.

What the movie is about is in the previous movie batman killed a very important person to the city of Goltham, or so they thought. The main police guy. Then this guy named Bein comes in and he is seeking revenge on batman. I am not going to tell you the rest of the movie because I don`t want to spoil it.

"The Expendables 2" by Ian Romine

The Expendables 2 has just hit theaters and it has lived up to its expectations. This movie has all the characters you would want to see in an action movie. Including, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenager, and Sylvester Stallone.

So most people would and probably are expecting me to discuss a recent movie. I would want you to expect that but, you will not be getting that. I will discuss a pretty old movie. This movie is all black and white and no one in the movie talks. The writer and star actor in this movie is Charlie Chaplin. The reason that he is so amazing is because he directed the movie but, he was also in the movie at the same time. Now I might be wrong but I haven’t heard of any present day actors that have done this recently, at least that I am aware of. Another interesting fact about this actor is that he is actually in another movie with his own actual wife. The little kid in this movie is also another movie directors son. The reason Chaplin decided to hire this particular boy is the fact that he and Chaplin got along so well.

I actually enjoy this movie a lot and it is called The kid by Charlie Chaplin. I doubt that anybody has ever heard of this movie before and I would be surprised if you had. Some people may argue that it is not a good movie if it does not have any sound but, it was for me. I think that the only reason that I enjoy this movie is because it is so simple but yet so entertaining. This movie was so amazing and advanced for its time, that everybody wanted to see it. So this is my review for the movie of week in my opinion.

The Lecroix Family by Parker Daniel

Recently, the baby of Granville and Kathy Lecroix has passed away.  On Monday, Mrs. Lecroix got up in chapel and spoke about her child and how God is helping her through this tragedy.  I think that it takes a lot of bravery to get up and talk about this, and to trust God through this.  Not questioning God about why this happens is very faithful, and shows a lot of trust in Him.  Many people went to the funeral of Abagail Lecroix to mourn her death and to support the Lecroix family.  Everyone needs to keep them in their prayers so that God will listen and help them.

This might have an effect on the Varsity Football Team because, as many of you know; Granville is the Lineman Coach and the Training Coach.  I hope that our team can pull through against Deshler on Friday, even with this loss for the week.  Kathy is the Math 7 teacher, so the 7th graders will not have her this week either.  Though this is a tragedy, this can also be seen as a test for the Lecroix’s faith, and in my opinion, they are passing.  They have a large amount of faith and hope from their church family here at MA, and this is something that will help them through this tragedy.  

Alabama Crimson Tide by Ben Johnston

Alabama defected Arkansas 52-0 this weekend. This is a good week for Alabama fans. The #1 ranked Alabama crimson tide is one of the best teams this year. This team is young but, they look very good. 

Alabama is 3-0 and will most likely be 4-0 this saturday. The biggest game this year is LSU v. Alabama. The LSU Tigers shows to the main team to beat this year.

The iPhone 5 by Jordan Marshall

So, I know everyone has heard about the new iPhone 5 coming out soon. A couple days ago thats all we would hear about. Now, a lot of people have discovered the new iPhone 4 update, the iOS 6. It has really effected the maps app more than anything. It works more like Google maps now. You can go on the satellite and see yours, or anyone else’s neighborhood in a 3D. Although it is kind of slower, it is a really cool feature.

Back to the iPhone 5, there is going to be a lot of nice changes and a lot of new features. The screen will be bigger, but the phone will be lighter. It will have a better camera and video camera, a different charger, better Seri, and better maps. I have mixed feelings about the charger, being that I have to replace all the ones i have, with the new chargers. Hopefully they will make adapters too so I can still use my speakers that I like. With all this talk, I’m so excited to get the brand new iPhone 5. 

Hip-Hop/Rap By: Olivia Knott

       My favorite type of music is probably pop or hip-hip/rap. A lot of people have the same opinion on music. Over the years, this genre of music has gotten very popular. More teens seem to listen to this type of music, but parents are making there way around to this kind of music. Older people seem to think as hip-hop/rap as noise and trash. It just depends on the artist you listen too. If you listen to an annoying artist and they cuss a lot, then it becomes trash, but if you listen to good music, it is actually really fun to listen too!

The reason I love this type of music so much is because it gets me in a good mood. I know a lot of people feel the same way. This type of music gets me pumped before a volleyball game, or for guys, before they play football. I hope the type of hip-hop we have today gets a little cleaner and stays where it is, music wise. I can’t wait to see how this genre of music gets better over the years!

As we all know Michael Jackson is considered one of the best singers in the America. We also know his “Bad” album was considered his best Album. Today is when his album Bad turns 25. His album “Bad” was one of the greatest albums to ever come out during the 70s. The album was known particularly for its song bad. 

I love Michael Jackson and his energy. People all over the world was touched by Michael Jackson. His album also made people appreciate pop music. His album really put pop music on the map. This album “Bad” was great and will always be remembered as one of Michael’s greatest albums.

U.S. Surge Troops Finally Pulled Out. Jared Hill

The last of all 33,000 U.S surge troops that were sent to Afghanistan by President Obama have all returned to the U.S. They were sent to keep the Taliban attacks down. But after a tumultuous week in Afghanistan that saw commanders put limits on when NATO and Afghan troops can patrol together, Panetta also acknowledged there will still be difficult days ahead. However, recent new waves of deadly insider attacks and a reassessment of how NATO troops partner with Afghans have raised questions about how well the military strategy is working.

I personally think its good that we pulled troops out of war that really isn’t ours. Our troops are being killed and wounded every day. These inside attacks show how stealthy these terrorist are. We need to take better action against terrorism.

On September 21 of the year 2012 there was a historic game between the mighty mustangs and the tiny tigers. The tiny tigers have not lost a region game for a long time until this season. The mighty mustangs want to go over to their field and capitalize. They mighty mustangs don’t want to give them any hope.

This game is to take control of the region. The mighty mustangs could well take control of the region if they win this game. The tiny tigers do not want to lose again so they will come out growling. The mighty mustangs hope to go play a fast, physical, football game, and play all four quarters. Go Mustangs!

This movie was directed by Simon West. It was written by Richard Wenk and Sylvester Stallone. Sylvester Stallone  also is one of the actors in the movie. 

It was released August 17th. For the movie they spend over a   $ 100,000,000 budget. They made over $250,000,000 . One week before the release of the movie, they pre-released tracking estimated that the film would gross between $30-$38 million.

Sylvester Stallone, as Barney Ross, the leader of the team, did all of his own stunts. He broke his back and injured his neck while filming the movie. Other actors in the movie are, Chuck Norris, Jean-Caude Van Damme, Bruce Willis,

 Arnold Schwarnzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren.

On of the team members of the Expendables got killed by the leader of the Sangs. The Expendables want  revenge against the Sangs. they eventually track them down and kill them. Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) fights the leader 1 on 1; he wrapped a chain around him and stabbed him. Biggest part of the movie is just a lot of  action.

Cheerleading By Preslee Lones

To be an Alabama cheerleader, you have to be really good! Only so many people get spots. If it is something you wanted to do you would have to work super hard. Tryouts are not just a one day thing. People get cut everyday too. If you make it to the last and final day, and then make it through those cuts, you can tryout for judges. 

There are two different squads. One of males and females, and another of just females. There are a lot of differences in the squads. Like the all female squad only cheers at home football games. While, the mixed team cheers at every football game. The sports they cheer for vary too. They do not take turns cheering games, they just cheer different sports.

"Local News" by Kyle Swearengen

         A shooting has occurred this morning around 3:45.  It happened in Huntsville on Salem Drive near the Alabama A&M campus.  Officers arrived later and found three people who had been shot.  People say that an argument started out over money. Then one man went and grabbed a gun and started firing at the other men. 

One man that was shot was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Another man was hit in the arm from shrapnel and was treated for the wound.  The shooter fled the scene and wasn’t seen again.  No names have been released yet of those who were involved in the firing.

"The Other Guys" by Zachary Nobrega

I am reviewing the movie “The Other Guys.” It is about dorky forensic accountant Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and NYPD detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). Terry has been stuck with him ever since he shot Derek Jeter. There were two very loved NYPD detectives; and when they died everybody wanted to fill their role. So Allen and Terry begin working on a very risky case. They catch the bad guys and they get fame and a promotion. 

This is a great movie. It is one of the funniest comedy films I have ever seen. It has my favorite actor Will Ferrell in it. I love Will Ferrell because every movie he is in is funny. I also like Mark Wahlberg in this movie. 

Matthew Huntley Dark Knight

The Dark Knight Rises is the movie I chose for my review.  The Dark Knight Rises is a long movie it is 164 minutes long. Throughout the trilogy he has a different enemy’s especially in this movie. The thing is The Joker is definitely not Bane, Bane is a much stronger and more dangerous enemy. The Batman is pretty much gone in Gotham City as he is aging.

As Bain’s army takes over and rules the city Batman decides to come back out of  hiding for justice. Bain has a bomb he is transporting around in different trucks it will go off no matter what. Bain does not know that it will go off whenever but Batman does so he stops it. Batman saves Gotham City from Bain and defeats him by carrying the bomb out far away over the ocean from Gotham.  But when they found the machine that Batman flew off in it said it was on auto pilot. So is Batman still alive?    

"The Black Panther" by Jonathan Ruh

The Black Panther is being more sociable lately. He has been spotted many times. He has been talked about lately on the local news and the popular radio show “Rick and Bubba”. If you do not know about this latest social conversation about the Black Panther then you are missing out! It is simply about a large feline mammal that is also very black and is roaming around Alabama.

I think that the Black Panther conversation is much more popular then last weeks “Bigfoot” conversation. I also think that it is much more believable. The Black Panther has been trying to come in contact with people, but since he is a panther people want to run away from him. If you are cool you will know about the Black Panther. 

A Walk To Remember by Natalie Conrad

After a prank gone wrong, a boy named Landon Carter finds himself on the road to getting expelled when he is offered the option to join various after-school activities as charity work. One of these is the school play, during which he meets Jamie Sullivan, a girl who completely turns his life around. With their conflicting personalities, a Christian bookworm and a bad boy, Jamie agrees to help Landon on only one condition. He must promise not to fall in love with her. Being the object of affection of most of the popular girls, Landon ignores this as even possible. Little does he know, Jamie is much more than her modest clothing and shy personality.

I like A Walk to Remember because it is a movie full of romance, drama, and dramatic twists. I love that Jamie is a strong, independent girl that doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. She is a great example of how a Christian woman should be like. She has amazing faith in God even though she knows that her life is short. She doesn’t change herself for a boy and instead he finds what’s beautiful within her. Overall, this will always be one of my favorite movies.

Hunger Games Wyatt Farrior

Recently, my favorite movie has been the Hunger Games. It has a lot of action and a good theme. The action is non-stop. It is a good movie to watch over and over.

Katniss Everdeen is the main character. She is a very good hunter. She uses a bow and arrow. I hope to learn to bow hunt soon. The movie also allows good to win over evil. That is always a good thing. 

War Eagle! By: Tiffany Von Tungeln

 Auburn started off the season playing a game against Clemson for a loss of 26-19. Next Auburn takes on Mississippi State for a loss of 28-10. The first two games did not look good for the Tigers at all. The next game they played was against Louisiana-Monroe in which they won! This encouraged the fans to not give up hope throughout the season.

    The game against Louisiana-Monroe was a success for Auburn. The game was very close in score the whole time. Auburn had a difficult time keeping their score ahead of Louisiana until the very end of the game. It was so close that they went in to overtime when Louisiana still had the ball. Auburn was the first to play in overtime and then Louisiana. It went back to Auburn; that is when they got far enough down the field to score a field goal. That is what won the game for the Tigers. War Eagle!

Child Passenger Safety Week by NOAH HARRISON

Not many people know, but this week is Child Passenger Safety Week. This is not much of a know week holiday type thing for most people. This week to to help save lives of those who are not prepared if they were to get into a car accident. An example is they are giving free carseat checks for parents. This will help keep precious cargo like babies and young children safe from harm.

If you do not have a car seat for your child they are selling all kinds of seats that you child will love. They have to properly fit the child with height and weight when buying these car seats. If you buy one, they will show you how to fasten your child in and how to take it in and out of the car. This week may not be noticed by much, but it can save children’s lives in the time of a car accident.

It has appeared to be her number one pop hit so far ever since it has been released a few weeks ago! Although, it also has appeared to be the least Taylor Swift song of any of her records. I thought that it was an okay song when I first heard it but most of her songs is either about breakups with a guy or love with a guy so yeah!

She’s a country singer and she’s doing pop songs so far; therefore, I thought that she should be doing a country pop song and not just only pop! Even though ever since the song has been released, it has gone from number to number two!! Right now, Maroon 5 is ahead as the top song today!! So she better keep up and bring back upto the number one hit!!

Although, this is not a movie, it is a very good show about a girl who doesn’t exactly fit in make it in the fashion world. In season one, Betty applies for an assistant job at Mode. Mr. Meade of Meade publications hires Betty as his son’s assistant, mainly because he though his son, Daniel would be attracted to her, he had been really attracted to his other assistants. Daniel has a hard time with Betty at first; then, he realizes what a good assistant Betty really is. After about two or three years, Betty applies for Y.E.T.I, a program for journalists to try to get an editors job. Betty makes it at Y.E.T.I and soon ends up as an editor. 

For the Meade family, it isn’t the best. They don’t have a good family life. Bradford Meade, the father, has an affair with Faye Summers, his co-editor. Alex, Daniel’s brother pretends to die in a skiing accident, but he really gets plastic surgery to turn himself into a girl. Faye gave Claire (Bradford’s wife) perfume that had poison in it that would eventually kill her. But, instead, Claire ends up cutting Faye’s break line, and Faye dies from crashing her car into a tree. 

Wilhelmina, a designer at Mode would do anything to be a co-editor or editor by herself. She seduces Bradford and then frames Claire so Claire is in prison. Then, Wilhelmina marries Bradford, but he dies. Wilhelmina did all of this to get on the top of Mode magazine. The only way that she can still be an editor and own some of Mode is if she has a Meade ayer. Once Bradford is dead, she pays a doctor for his sperm; but, she can’t get pregnant so, she puts the baby in Christina (scottish seamstress at Mode). Wilhelmina knows that Christina needs money, and she has money for her if she will carry her baby. Christina needs money for her husband, who is sick. Once Christina has baby William, he looks more like Christina and her husband than Bradford and Wilhelmina. Christina kidnaps the baby and figures out that it is really hers. (She had sex before the procedure and got pregnant, so Bradford’s sperm didn’t take.) 

Wilhelmina’s daughter is mad about her mom sending her off to a boarding school in Paris. So, she hires someone to blackmail her and get her mom’s money to run away and live with her boyfriend, who she pretends to murder. 

By the end of season 4, Wilhelmina and Daniel are co-editors and chief. Betty is an editor, her boss is one of her many ex-boyfriends. Christina and her husband move back to Scotland with their baby.

Swimming has been recorded since prehistoric times; the earliest recording of swimming dates back to Stone Age paintings from around 7,000 years ago. Written references date from 2000 BC. Some of the earliest references to swimming include the Gilgamesh, the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Bible, Beowulf, and other sagas. In 1778, Nikolaus Wynmann, a German professor of languages, wrote the first swimming book, The Swimmer or A Dialogue on the Art of Swimming. 

Competitive swimming as we know it today started in the United States started around 1800, mostly using breaststroke. Many Americans often used swimming competitions to settle differences in the frontier, such as property rights. In 1873, John Arthur Trudgen introduced the Trudgen to Western swimming competitions, after copying the front crawl used by Native Americans. Due to a British dislike of splashing, Trudgen employed a scissor kick instead of the front crawl's flutter kick. Swimming was part of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens. In 1902 Richmond Cavill introduced the front crawl to the Western world. In 1908, the world swimming association, Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA), was formed. Butterfly was developed in the 1930s and was at first a variant of breaststroke, until it was accepted as a separate style in 1952.

Remember The Titans By: Josh Benner

  One of my favorite movies is called Remember the Titans.  It is based on actual events that happened in Virginia during the time of the Civil Rights movement.  The movie begins by showing scenes from T.C. Williams High and its new school integration program.  No one is happy with the new arrangement.  Blacks mistrust white people, and whites resent the intrusion of African-Americans.  To make matters worse, the school’s favorite head coach, Coach Yoast, is replaced by Herman Boone, a black coach.  Mistrust between these men exists also.  For a long time, friction between black and white teammates and their coaches continue.  Over time, however, both the players and coaches realize that if they want to become winners, they must put their differences aside, depend on one another, and unite as one team.  When they do this, success happens and friendships form.  The friendships that begin because of football continue off the field.  One by one, others in the town are influenced by what they are seeing, and many become “color-blind” as well.  In the end, all win.   The Titans win the State Championship and go on to place second in the nation.  The people win because they become a united community, supportive of all who need it whether black or white.  All were forever influenced by the Titans.

     I liked this movie because of the sports, but I also liked watching strangers become friends.  One of my dad’s friends went to a rival high school of T.C Williams during this time.  He said their football program really did change the way many in Virginia looked at segregation.  It does not matter if a person is black or white, boy or girl, rich or poor, smart or dumb. Each is unique.  Each is important.  I can learn something from each person I meet, and I think each person can learn something from me, also.  If we are wise, we will follow the Titan’s example.  We will learn to value people because God made them and remember that they are important no matter what.   

Nemo by Trammell Shepherd

Viewers of all ages will love this film.  It will touch almost everybody.  It will keep you watching with its mixture of joy, love, anger, and fustration.  It teaches a good life lesson of being patient.  This is a great all around movie for anybody.  

This is a adventurous animated movie That takes place under the sea.  Its about a over protective clown fish named marlin and his son Nemo.  One day Nemo swims to far off and gets taken my by divers.  He finds himself in a fish tank at the dentist along with other fish who help him get back to his dad.  Marlin also receives help from a fish named Dory who helps the time go by but is very forgetful.

This year a man named Mitt Romney is running up against Obama in the Presidential campaign. We listened to all of the the Democratic and Republican speeches in Leadership. I really liked Romney and he sounded like a pretty good person. He is very good at making speeches. 

I think a lot of people are going to vote for Romney. He had a lot of good points in his speech. I really like his wife too. She made a speech in the Republican Convention and it was really good.

This week I have the opportunity to write about music. I love to listen to music. Music can bring many emotions. It can bring sadness, excitement, joy, love. One of the major things that music brings back is memories. Music is associated with many emotions and parts of life.

As I mentioned earlier about memories. I was riding in the car with my dad one day, and we turned the radio to 102.1 and an old country song came on. As soon as my dad heard it, he was shocked that the song was still playing. According to him, the song is about 20 years old. I had asked him if the song brought memories back, he told me that the song brought many memories back. As you can see, music can bring back many things.

This week on the musical side of life I will be talking about the number one song  of the top songs. Now when I say top songs I mean in iTunes store. song is but I know for sure what the second one is. So here it is the number one song is one of my favorites and that is the Japanese inspired song  Gangnam style. This song has a variety of music types. It has a little bit of actual words that are sang in the song and a mixture of electronic music and instrumental music.

The reason that I find this song so interesting is that it is a little strange to have a foreign song in the top 10. I think the reason it has done this is because it has such a good mixture of electronic music and not  a whole lot of actual Japanese words in it.

Ethan Carter social

My topic this week is relationships. That I know of, there are two relationships that i know of (or that i pay attention to). There is the Tyler French and Elizabeth Taylor couple. These two have been together for 4(?) months now. The next and final couple is the Ethan Carter(me!) and Shelby Selvidge couple. We have been together for 4 months. So far, both couples have made excellent progress in their relationships and don’t seem to be breaking up for a long time. This is all the information I have this week, talk to me later and i'll write about it.

SEC By: Will Acuff

This week I have sports and I am going to write about college football in the SEC. Last week Arkansas and Alabama played each other and everyone thought it was going to be a really good game but Alabama ended up winning 52-0. Another game was Auburn and University of Louisiana Monroe. Many people were picking Louisiana Monroe to beat Auburn but Auburn pulled out a close win in overtime 31-28. Vanderbilt played Presbyterian and it was a beat down. Vanderbilt won 58-0. LSU played Idaho and they won easily 63-14. Texas A&M played SMU and won badly 48-3. Florida and Tennessee was game day and it was a close game for a while then Florida pulled away and won 37-20. UAB and South Carolina played and South Carolina won easily 49-6. Western Kentucky and Kentucky played and it was a great game. Western Kentucky ended up winning in overtime 32-31 on a trick play. Missouri and Arizona State played and it was a real good game but Missouri came out on top 24-20. Mississippi State and 

Troy played and it was a hard fought battle but Mississippi State came out on top 30-24.  Georgia played FAU and they easily won 56-20. The final game of the SEC was LSU vs. Idaho. Idaho gave a tough fight the first half but then LSU came out and played better and won 63-14.

This week there are not many good games in the SEC. The only competitive game will be Vanderbilt vs. Georgia, Arkansas vs. Rutgers, and South Carolina vs. Missouri. I think that there will be a SEC team in the BCS national championship. The SEC is the best conference in college football.

In the news you have probably seen what has been going on in Libya.  If you have not seen what happened then the american ambassador and three others dead.  This is a very bad situation.  According to officials in Libya there have been 50 arrest already.  They said it was definitely a foreigners U.S. officials believe it was extremest.

The FBI is investigating the attack but has yet to enter the country because of volatility there.  The U.S. however has deployed warships and surveillance drones into hunt for killers, and contingent of 50 marines has arrived to boost the security of Americans in Libya.

The sports side of me is going to be talking about the sports side of the social world. The college football world has already started off amazing especially if you are an alabama fan. The alabama crimson tide are 3-0 and they killed michigan and arkansas 2 top 25 teams. They are also ranked number 1 right now.

You are probably wandering how this is social. Well this is a huge social thing because every one gets together and eats and has a good time watching all the football games. This past weekend I went to the auburn game and tailgated after the game and watched a lot of other games. It is very fun to do you should do it sometime. - Memory capacity: 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes, depending on price. There's no way to expand it with memory cards.

. The different characteristics are that It is longer like in height. It is slimmer, like in width. The main characteristic that is think will help out a lot of people is the back plate. They make it out of the same material that the silver macbook Pro’s have or the macbook air. So it is covered in that material but there is a little piece on the top and the bottom of the back of the Iphone that is glass! This helps with the fact tat pretty much all IPhone users have cracked their screen, or there phone is in an otter box and the back plate has shattered with out them knowing!
