I don’t usually like sports very much. My mom and dad try to get me to watch football with them, but it seems boring to me. I never really became interested in soccer, tennis, or softball. The only sport that seemed fun to me was volleyball when we played it in PE. It was a little crazy with all those kids on your team trying to keep the ball in the air. Getting the ball over the net was even harder because I wasn’t tall enough to spike it over the net. The way I thought about volleyball changed when I saw the Olympics and watched beach volleyball. Now that’s the way to play volleyball!
First of all, you play beach volleyball outdoors in a bikini in the sand. What could be more fun? If you fall while trying to make a shot, it doesn’t hurt as much or bruise you up like in a gym. There are only two people on a each team, so there aren’t as many people to bump into. The best part is that women are really great at this sport. The U.S. teams won the gold and silver medals at the Olympics. I think everything, even sports, is better at the beach.
